Public Comment

The federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, operated by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides communities with resources to address a wide range of community needs to serve low to moderate income residents. The Town of Chapel Hill has received federal CDBG funds since 1975 and has used these funds to support a variety of affordable housing initiatives and community service programs.

The Chapel Hill Town Council held an initial public forum on November 7, 2018 and a second public forum is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2019, to receive public input on the Town’s 2019-2020 CDBG program.

The public is invited to review and comment on the draft 2019-2020 CDBG Annual Plan, which will be made available during normal business hours of operation for a period of thirty (30) days beginning Monday, April 1, 2019 and ending Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at the following locations:

• Town of Chapel Hill: 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Chapel Hill, NC 27514 and https://tinyurl.com/TOCH-CDBG

• Chapel Hill Public Library: 100 Library Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514

Please submit all comments by 5:00 pm on April 30, 2019. Written comments may be submitted to Renée Moye, Community Development Program Manager, Office of Housing and Community, 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Chapel Hill, NC 27514 or via email to CDBG@townofchapelhill.org. All comments will be incorporated into the final 2019-2020 Annual Plan document submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Notice: November 7, 2018 Public Forum

Housing and Community Development Needs and Use of 2019-2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds   

The federal CDBG Program, operated by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides communities with resources to address a wide range of community needs to serve lower and moderate income residents including affordable housing, community services, job training, and youth services. The Town of Chapel Hill has received federal CDBG funds since  1975 and has used these funds to support a variety of affordable housing initiatives and community service programs.

The Chapel Hill Town Council will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 7 in the Council Chamber of Chapel Hill Town Hall to receive public input on the Town’s housing and community development needs. Public comments will be used to help determine specific funding priorities, and help identify potential uses of 2019-2020 federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Public Comment

Residents are invited to review and comment on the FY 2017–2018 Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER). This report details the progress in carrying out the FY 2017–2018 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Annual Plan as well as the performance in meeting the overall priorities and objectives. All comments received will be recorded in the final document submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The official 15-day comment period is August 15, 2018 through August 31, 2018. Written comments may be addressed to: Renee Moye, Community Development Program Manager, Office of Housing and Community, 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Chapel Hill, NC 27514 or may be emailed to cdbg@townofchapelhill.org.
