Update 11/29/18: The CDC approved a Certificate of Appropriateness for all 5 proposed buildings and one of the proposed parking decks at their meeting on November 27. The CDC will do additional review of the other proposed parking deck at an upcoming meeting. Staff review of the Form District Permit Application is also still in progress.

Description:   The proposed redevelopment of the Tarheel Lodging site encompasses three adjoining parcels involving multiple land uses and multiple phases. The three parcels include the existing Hong Kong Restaurant, Quality Inn, and a vacant parcel between Jiffy Lube and Quality Inn. The project is proposed in multiple phases, with the 43,040 sq. ft. TRU Hotel proposed in the first phase. Later phases include additional commercial space, and multi-family residential development. Contractual obligations require that the existing Quality Inn remain in operation during the construction of the TRU Hotel and other Phase-I improvements.

The decision, or final action, deadline is 75 working days after the acceptance of a complete application or 15 calendar days after the Community Design Commission approves a Certificate of Appropriateness, whichever is later. The applicant may grant the Town additional time to extend the final action deadline for both the Certificate of Appropriateness and the Form District Permit applications.
