Artist + Transit Bus Shelterspr_design_Erickson

In the fall of 2018 public art arrives at five bus shelters in Chapel Hill and Carrboro.  Chapel Hill Transit customers will soon be able to enjoy delightful and eye-catching installations by local artists, including the spraypainted stencil designs of Ingrid Erickson, screen print posters of Ron Liberti, and neon tapework of Mary Carter Taub.  The bus stops slated for artistic upfitting include Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Stateside Drive, South Columbia Street at UNC's Health Sciences Library, Carrboro Town Hall, and the Park & Ride lots at Eubanks Road and Southern Village.

These installations are part of a larger, year-long collaboration between Chapel Hill Transit and the Town of Chapel Hill’s Office of Community Arts & Culture aimed at enlivening the daily commute and bringing art into the community’s everyday life.  Design at right by Ingrid Erickson.
