Southern Village Traffic Study

The Town of Chapel Hill is conducting a comprehensive study to receive input on traffic concerns and solutions on streets in Southern Village.

Town staff conducted meetings with the HOA Boards, residents, and conducted an online survey to seek input on traffic issues. Results from the survey are located here:

Survey Results

A report with recommendations will be presented to the Council on March 20, 2017. The exact number, type, and location of recommended traffic calming measures will be determined working with residents and HOA boards.

Background Material
At its March 21, 2016 meeting, the Town Council approved a resolution authorizing the Town Manager to conduct a comprehensive traffic study in Southern Village and provide a report and recommendations to the Council in September 2016.

Other Road Work in Southern Village

Summer means road improvements, and in Summer/ Fall 2016 Market Street was resurfaced, two raised crosswalks were added, improvements were made to ramps, the street changed from two travel lanes to one, and new parking time limits were implemented. Visit and scroll to No. 9 for more information.
