Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 is a Town holiday. Most Town offices will be closed. This message outlines which services are affected.

Trash and Recycling Collection

• Curbside recycling will not be collected on Wednesday, Jan. 1. Starting Wednesday, recycling collection will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
• Orange County Landfill and Waste & Recycling Centers will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1.
• Collection of residential trash, yard trimmings, and commercial trash will not be affected.

Chapel Hill Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Chapel Hill Transit will provide local service and 420 route only (no CCX, FCX, JFX, and NU routes) on Dec. 30 and 31. CHT will not operate on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

Public Housing Office and Maintenance Division will be closed. For emergency maintenance services, call (919) 968-2855.  

Parks and Recreation

• Facilities closing at 5pm on Tuesday, Dec. 31: Nate Davis Sr. Gym, Community Center Gym, and Chapel Hill Community Center Pool.
• Facilities closed on Tuesday, Dec. 31: Hargraves Center and Teen Center.  
• All Parks & Rec facilities will be closed  Wednesday, Jan. 1.
• Parks, greenways, trails, dog parks, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and outdoor park amenities are all open. We encourage you to get outside and enjoy being active.
