Yard Waste and Bulky Item Collections Resume Normal Operations
Post Date:06/12/2020 2:27 PM
The Town of Chapel Hill will resume normal operations for weekly yard waste and bulky item collections beginning on June 15. We expect the volume of yard waste to be larger than normal, and it may take a couple of weeks for collections to be completed.
Please help us provide efficient, safe, and timely solid waste service to all residents by doing the following:
Don’t place yard waste in plastic bags; use paper bags. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.
Place all yard waste behind the curb or street-side for collection by 6 a.m.
Ensure all yard waste is cut to less than 4 feet in length and less than 10 inches in diameter. Keep the total amount of yard waste under 3 cubic yards, which is about the size of a small pickup truckload. For large yard waste projects that generate more than 3 cubic yards of waste, consider:
If possible, sanitize the handles and lids of carts and cans after rolling them to the curb.
Household trash: Dispose of all household trash inside a tied trash bag and place it inside a trash container. Collection workers have been instructed not to collect trash that is unbagged or not inside a trash container for their safety and in compliance with Town Code. The Town provides one trash cart at no charge. Additional trash carts may be purchased for $60 and will be delivered to your home. To purchase a Town trash cart, visit townhall.townofchapelhill.org/seeclickfix/requests/garbage_rollcarts/.
As a reminder, July 3 is a Town Holiday, and yard waste collections will be canceled on Friday, July 3.
