Updated: Repairs scheduled for the eastern end of Morgan Creek Trail March 23
Post Date:03/20/2020 3:30 PM
Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation will temporarily close the eastern end of the Morgan Creek Trail, and public access to Merritt’s Pasture, on March 23 for needed repairs. We expect the work will take three to five days to complete.
Remaining open is the span of the Morgan Creek Trail from the trail head off Fordham Blvd and NC 54 to the Fan Branch trail bridge including the full 1.6 mile span of the Fan Branch trail that leads to Southern Community Park.
While this temporary closure of the east end of Morgan Creek Trail is not in response to COVID-19, it is important we complete repairs of a noted safety hazard along the trail. The east end of the Morgan Creek Trail also acts as the only public access to Merritt Pasture. Once completed, the Trail and pasture will reopen.
With the exception of this temporary closure, all our greenways remain open. While spending more time at home, there's more time to get outside or take a walk. Please use our social distancing guide as you enjoy the outdoors with others.
While focusing on our ongoing COVID-19 response, the Town of Chapel Hill has closed our Parks and Recreation facilities, including parks, dog parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, tennis, volley ball and pickleball courts. All indoor recreation and aquatic facilities are closed. All recreation programs are canceled until further notice. Our greenways and cemeteries remain open.
