To ensure you have access to the latest information and guidance, the Town of Chapel Hill has the following update on the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation.

We want to point you to the right sources to get accurate information, and emphasize the importance of common sense hygiene to help prevent the spread of this and other viruses.

Information and recommendations from public health officials:

  • At the time of this release, there are two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in North Carolina. More at ncdhhs.gov/covid-19-case-count-north-carolina
  • Our public health agencies are taking swift action in each case to shut transmission down: isolate and test each suspected case, trace close contacts, and isolate and test them as well.
  • We want everyone to be prepared and vigilant, not alarmed.
  • Health care providers recommend to prevent the spread of the flu and other viruses, including washing your hands, avoiding touching your face and covering coughs and sneezes. More at cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/prevention-treatment.html

Make sure the information you are getting about COVID-19 is coming directly from reliable sources. Visit townofchapelhill.org/coronavirus for a list of those sources.

The next update will be posted at townofchapelhill.org/coronavirus and emailed to Town email subscribers no later than Wednesday afternoon (March 11) and will follow a weekly schedule. Urgent news will be updated when it is relevant.
