Meet our new Director of Parks and Recreation and share your best wish
Our new Parks and Recreation Director, Phil Fleischmann, and members of the department's leadership team would like to learn more about your experiences with Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation and your leisure needs and ideas.
"Arriving in June as your new director, I feel truly fortunate to lead such a strong team of staff and community partners in our quest to provide exceptional leisure experiences that align with our vision to Inspire, Create and Preserve. Chapel Hill has long been a special place to me, as I attended the University of North Carolina. As a Raleigh native, having an opportunity to move back to the Triangle after over a decade away serving parks and recreation agencies in Greensboro and Charlotte, was something that I was eager to do." Phil said.
We're planning some interactive questions and answer exercises, including one or two wish trees, to collect your thoughts and ideas. The plan is an opportunity for residents, young and more seasoned, to share their views on their leisure needs and ideas - what you like, what you would change and what improvements you would like to see.
Informal "meet and greets" have been scheduled for the new year where suggestions can be shared and posted. We want it to be a grassroots, democratic process where our users and the local community can really say what they want. It is an exciting opportunity to shape the future!
Please drop in to meet Phil Fleischmann and other members of the department’s leadership team at one of the following sessions.
- Wed., Jan. 8, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Chapel Hill Community Center
- Mon., Jan. 13, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Hargraves Community Center
- Tues., Feb. 11, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Homestead Aquatic Center
