Chapel Hill to Survey Residents about Town Services

    Community Survey to assess residents satisfaction with Town services
  • Results inform the Town’s future planning and budgeting processes
  • Survey available in the Town’s primary languages: English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Burmese, and Karen

What do you think of Town services? The Town of Chapel Hill seeks to find out through a survey mailed this month to a random sampling of 2,000 households.  The survey is posted online https://bit.ly/2qzDMfP for all to view (with results calculated separately for the randomly selected respondents).

ETC Institute, a professional market research firm, is conducting the survey, which is Chapel Hill’s sixth survey over the past decade. The survey is conducted every other year. ETC has administered surveys in more than 300 cities and counties across the United States. Benchmarking analysis will help Chapel Hill understand how its results compare to similar communities.

"Surveys help us assess residents’ satisfaction with the services we provide, and allow us to evaluate our progress over time," said Town Manager Maurice Jones. "The results will inform our strategic planning and budgeting processes as we work toward continuous improvement.”

In the last survey, residents said they wanted more improvements to local transportation infrastructure, including more bicycle lanes and greenways. Since then, the Town completed a new trail that will allow pedestrians and bicyclists to travel from the Northside neighborhood to Umstead Park and the Bolin Creek Trail. There is a new median, crosswalks and signal upgrade at Franklin Street and Merritt Mill Road. Many projects are underway or in planning for safer and more efficient bike and pedestrian accommodations and vehicle travel across town.

For households that speak languages other than English, translation services are available in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, Burmese, and Karen.
