The Town of Chapel Hill Stormwater Management Program has been working through the development of subwatershed planning as part of a strategic initiative identified in the Stormwater Management Master Plan https://bit.ly/2QW6F0i. The goals of the program are to recommend and prioritize projects that will control existing flooding, stabilize streams, and improve overall water quality in the Town’s watersheds. Over the past several months, the focus has been on the Cedar Fork Subwatershed Study
The results of the study will identify challenges and opportunities to mitigate flooding and stormwater issues in the area. During the study process, a field inspection of the entire Cedar Fork Subwatershed was conducted. The process has also included public engagement opportunities with an online survey, public meeting, site visits, a roving display, web page and dedicated e-mail.
The study is currently in the alternatives analysis phase and those who attend the public meeting will learn more about the activities conducted to date. The final study will recommend projects that the Town can undertake to meet the goals of the Stormwater Management Master Plan.
