200 Year Celebration

A celebration was held to celebrate the 200th anniversary of local government in Chapel Hill. Current and past elected officials along with members of the community came together to mark the milestone and to share memories of the town. UNC Health Care Eastowne Request 

Council approved a revised resolution for UNC Health to drain an existing farm pond at its Eastowne property; permit stream enhancements and water quality improvements; permit no more than two stream crossings; and permit no additional land disturbance within the designated Jordan Buffer Stream unless otherwise authorized as part of the Development Agreement.


Charting Our Future

Council removed the Glenn Heights neighborhood from the South Martin Luther King Jr. Charting Our Future focus area. Council originally received a request from neighborhood residents to be removed from the study on Oct. 2, 2019. Learn more about Charting Our Future at


Petition to Annex Properties at Sunrise Road and Ginger Road

Council approved a petition from Habitat for Humanity of Orange County and from Barbara and Donald Levine to voluntarily annex 33.72 acres of land into the Town of Chapel Hill corporate limits. Habitat for Humanity has submitted a conditional zoning application for this site known as Weavers Grove, which would include 219 dwelling units. This development application will be the subject of a separate public hearing.


Historic District Commission (HDC) Procedures

Council approved changes to improve Historic District Commission procedures and provide clarity for decision-making.


Financial Planning for West End Parking Deck

Council authorized the Town Manager to proceed with financial planning for West End Parking Deck and to call a public hearing on Feb. 12, 2020, related to the Parking Payment-in-Lieu Program.
