NC 54 West Corridor Study
Council received the NC 54 West Corridor Study, which analyzes existing and future transportation and land use along a 20-mile corridor between Graham and Carrboro. The study aims to narrow the potential improvements down to a series of recommendations including three- and four-lane sections, shared use path (SUP), and options for improving access to existing and future land uses.
Historic District Commission Text Amendment
Council opened a public hearing regarding Historic District Commission (HDC) Land Use Management Ordinance text amendments. This is in response to a recommendation from the Council Committee on Boards and Commissions to improve HDC procedures and provide clarity to decisions made by the HDC.
Affordable Housing Preservation Strategy Framework
Implementation of an affordable housing preservation strategy is one of the Town Council’s 2020-2022 Strategic Goals and Objectives. The strategy was developed based on research conducted by staff on strategies implemented by communities nationwide and informed by feedback from the Housing Advisory Board. The framework is organized around preserving existing affordable housing, improving or maintaining quality of affordable housing and supporting tenant protections for households at risk of displacement.
Conditional Rezoning at 1751 Dobbins Drive
The Council opened a public hearing and received comments on the proposed rezoning at 1751 Dobbins Drive. The applicant proposes construction of a two-story, 5,747 square foot office with 21 parking spaces. The existing zoning is Residntial-4 (R-4). The proposed zoning is Office/Institutional–2–Conditional Zoning (OI-2-CZ).
Special Use Permit Modification for Wegmans Street Improvements
The Council opened a public hearing regarding a Special Use Permit modification. The applicant proposes a realignment of the US 15-501 Service Road across the adjacent State Employees Credit Union property, creating a full-access connection from the Wegmans development at 1810 Fordham Boulevard to US 15-501. The former service road location would be repurposed as a multi-use path.
Concept Plan Review: Putt-Putt Fun Center and Storage Facility, 2200 Eubanks Road
Council received a concept plan regarding an indoor/outdoor recreation facility and self-storage facility at 2200 Eubanks Road, between Carraway Village and I-40. No Council decision is made on concept plans, however an applicant may receive Council feedback on an initial sketch.
