Information on the adjusted HS route, Sept. 30, 2019

Post Date:10/24/2019 6:00 PM
Draft map of the Route HS

On Aug. 12, Chapel Hill Transit made several changes to the HS route. The new routing provides service to Rogers, High School and Homestead roads, and extends service to UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC Hospitals and Smith Level and Culbreth roads. This change was intended to provide better access between neighborhoods and employment, community facilities and schools along its route.

On Sept. 30, Chapel Hill Transit adjusted the route to improve its reliability and on-time performance. The below is a description of the routing of the HS:

  • Begin at Morris Grove Elementary,
  • Right on Rogers Road,
  • Right on Homestead Road,
  • Left on High School Road,
  • Left on Seawell School Road,
  • Right on Homestead Road,
  • Right on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard,
  • Continues onto S. Columbia Street,
  • Right on Cameron Avenue,
  • Left on Pittsboro Street,
  • Right on S. Columbia Street,
  • Right on Culbreth Road,
  • Right on Smith Level,
  • Right on S. Fordham Boulevard,
  • Left on S. Columbia Street,
  • Continue route in reverse

Route HS will begin operating at 6:15 a.m. and will run every 70 minutes until its last run starting at 6:38 p.m.

We are currently working on updating all route maps and technologies to reflect the current routing and timetable. In the meantime, temporary maps and schedules have been posted at high ridership stops and with facilities who distribute schedules along the route.

If you would like additional information about the route, the temporary schedule materials or to get new route maps when they are delivered, please email Chapel Hill Transit at We will post updates as soon as we are able.

Thank you all for your continued patience and feedback!
