Mayor Hemminger Receives TJCOG Public Service Award

Mayor Pam Hemminger was awarded the Triangle J Council of Government’s Public Service Award on Thursday, Oct. 10, at its regional summit in Pittsboro. The award recognizes officials who provide innovative approaches and collaborative leadership to solve problems in their community.
The nomination came from John Morris, a board member of the Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA). Morris recognized Mayor Hemminger for her leadership and vision for watershed management and work with Jordan Lake One Water – a collaborative effort among 10 counties, 27 municipalities and other non-profits.
The TJCOG nomination states: “Mayor Hemminger has made an enduring contribution to good management of our water resources, bringing to bear her deep commitment to environmental quality, her ability to reach out and win participation from key stakeholders, and her persistent focus on finding new strategies that really work.”
