Big Book Sale Sept. 13-15

Post Date:09/04/2019 11:47 AM

The Friends of Chapel Hill Public Library invite you to the Big Book Sale Sept. 13-15. Browse and buy from more than 20,000 books, movies, vinyl, games and more. We have an incredible selection of electronic media this time at a new low price of $1 – and they are included in the bag sale. All proceeds benefit the programs, collection and services of Chapel Hill Public Library, located at 100 Library Drive. You’ll find unbelievable prices and selections all three days. If you’d like to attend members only day on Friday, memberships are sold (and renewed) at the door and range from $10 for students to $35 for families. Or for even easier access, go on line now at and click on Join Us or Renew.

NEW PRICES: As the Library and its services and programs continue to grow we want to be able to continue supporting them as we have been. Therefore, Saturday prices will now match Friday prices which means hard covers are $3 and soft covers are $2 both Friday and Saturday. Prices for children’s books continue to start at 50 cents and mass market paperbacks are still 50 cents. We have lowered the prices on CDs, DVDs and vinyl for this sale to $1 for both days. The bag sale on Sunday is still a really great bargain at $7 – especially since you can bring your own bag or bags. This is our first price increase in almost ten years.

AS USUAL: You’ll find lots of all kinds of books for children, young adults and all ages including fiction, mystery, science fiction and romance. And there are lots of non-fiction; biographies, cookbooks, gardening, history, hobbies, travel and more along with a great collection of classics. There are also special book sets and art and coffee table books and this time, more electronics than usual and a selection of holiday books.

READERS RAFFLE: Back by popular demand – we have five great baskets. Be sure to stop at the door and get your tickets. The themed baskets are loaded with all kinds of fun stuff. Tickets are also available in advance in the Friends Book Store inside the lower level entrance to the Library from Aug. 26-Sept. 12. Tickets are $5 for one or three for $10. The baskets are now on display in the Bookie Monster window just inside the upper level entrance to the Library. Regular Book Store hours are noon-6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.

FRIENDS BOOK STORE: On Friday and Saturday, non-members and members can shop in the Friends Book Store. Special hours during the Big Sale are from 3-5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.  The Book Store will be closed on Sunday. These books are at our year-round prices which are a bargain any time. We offer an inventory of approximately 5,000 books as well as gift certificates. These are gift quality books and this is a great place for your special early holiday shopping.
