Fan Branch Work July 19-20

A section of the Fan Branch Trail will be closed this coming Friday and Saturday, July 19-20, for repairs. The closure will be for the section of the trail adjacent to Scroggs Elementary School between Aberdeen Drive in Southern Village and Southern Community Park.

In addition to the Fan Branch Trail project above, the contractor will also make drainage repairs the following week in the area around the Southern Community Park restroom building and playground. These repairs could take up to 10 days. Work is not expected to close any facility, however, some sidewalks will be closed. There will be alternate ways to reach the restrooms, picnic facilities, and playground.

ADA improvements, parking lot improvements and pickleball court resurfacing are scheduled for completion at Ephesus Park

  • The ADA parking and parking lot improvements are nearly finished. Some minor work remains, but the parking lot repairs and expansion are now essentially complete.
  • The pickleball courts at Ephesus Park are expected to be closed July 29 for resurfacing. Work is expected to take about two weeks. During this period the contractor will reserve up to reserve three parking spaces for construction staging..

The Bolin Creek Trail project is tentatively rescheduled for completion this fall. We have been working diligently with state and federal regulators, our design team, the Town’s coal ash consultants, and our contractors to arrive at a plan to improve the design to be able to better withstand another substantial weather and rain event such as Hurricane Florence in 2018.

Please do not enter construction areas! We ask you to be mindful of construction signage and areas closed by fencing.
