Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested
UPDATE 7/17/19: The Chapel Hill Police Department arrested Alvin Lennon, Sr, 61, of Durham on Tuesday, July 16, in connection with robberies at two State Employees Credit Unions.
Lennon was charged with two felony counts of common law robbery. He was given two secured bonds totaling $16,000. As of Wednesday morning he was still being held at the Orange County Jail.
The first robbery occurred Tuesday, July 2; the second robbery occurred Friday, July 5.
Previously released (7/3/2019, 3:33 p.m.): The Chapel Hill Police Department needs your help identifying the suspect in a bank robbery that occurred on Tuesday, July 2, at the State Employees Credit Union on Pittsboro Street.
The suspect entered the bank, approached a bank teller, stated “this is a hold-up”, and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. While he did not display any weapons, please do not approach the suspect if you see him. Call 911 and give a description of where he is and in what direction he is headed.

- Grey, scruffy facial hair
- Grey, baggy, long-sleeve button-up shirt (lanyard tucked in)
- Dark grey hat
- Khaki pants
- Dark shoes
