Chapel Hill Firefighter Arrested, Placed on Administrative Leave without Pay

The Chapel Hill Police Department arrested Jaime Ernesto Palacios, 53, of unincorporated Orange County, on Tuesday, Jan. 8. He was charged with three felony counts of dissemination to minors under the age of 16 years. He was taken to Orange County Jail and held on a $45,000 bond.

Palacios, a Chapel Hill Fire Department employee, was immediately placed on Administrative Leave without Pay in accordance with Town policy. An administrative investigation has been initiated.

This continues to be an ongoing criminal and personnel matter. The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the criminal investigation, and the Town is cooperating with outside law enforcement agencies to further investigate the criminal matter.
