Public Notice: Loose Leaves

Post Date:01/03/2019 3:08 PM

Due to the record breaking rainfall over an extended period of time and an early snow, we are experiencing service delays in the collection of residential loose leaves.

Crews are continuing to work diligently to collect residential loose leaves during this peak collection period, including working extended hours, and weather permitting on Saturdays. Please help us during this period by doing these things:

  • Put leaves behind the curb – Place loose leaves behind the curb to prevent them from interfering with vehicles, bicyclists, pedestrians and drainage. We are seeking your help in ensuring that loose leaves don’t create safety problems.
  • Check our collection schedule – Check our online leaf collection schedule. Hold off on placing loose leaves behind the curb until no more than two weeks prior to the anticipated arrival of collection crews in their neighborhood.

To assist us further, we strongly encourage residents to compost their loose leaves when possible or place them in a yard waste roll cart and/or in brown paper yard waste bags for weekly yard waste curbside collection. For more information on composting, go to

Please visit for weekly and daily collection updates.  To view the interactive map of where our crews are currently working, visit

Your assistance is appreciated in making our community safer for all modes of transportation, including people who walk and ride bicycles. If you have questions, reach us at or 919-969-5100.
