Get Out and Meet Your Neighbors Tuesday, Aug. 7
The Chapel Hill Police and Fire Departments will participate in the 35th annual National Night Out Tuesday, Aug. 7. The community is encouraged to join in this relationship-building celebration: head out into the neighborhood and meet your neighbors and community safety officials.
“A strong relationship with your neighbors can be extremely helpful in a variety of situations, and it’s important to start with introductions and a good foundation,” said Chapel Hill Police Chief and Executive Director for Community Safety Chris Blue. “Turn on your front porch light, lock your doors, and head out into the community. Our officers look forward to meeting you.”
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
The Chapel Hill Police Department is sending an officer to each of the public housing communities this year. If your neighborhood is hosting an event and would like an officer to swing by, call the Chapel Hill Police Department before close of business Monday, Aug. 6, at 919-968-2760 to make the request.
