Chapel Hill’s Housing Advisory Board looking for an affordable housing advocate
Are you interested in an opportunity to help shape the Town’s housing policies? Do you have demonstrated knowledge of or experience in affordable housing? Consider serving on the Housing Advisory Board.
The Town of Chapel Hill is currently looking for someone to fill the Affordable Housing Advocate seat on its Housing Advisory Board. The Affordable Housing Advocate must have demonstrated knowledge of or experience in affordable housing. Preference is given to applicants that live within the municipal limits of the Town of Chapel Hill.
Housing Advisory Board members are appointed by Town Council to serve three-year terms. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall (405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.). The average time commitment to serve on this board is about 2 - 4 hours per month. No previous board experience is required—new members will receive training and guidance to support their success.

The Housing Advisory Board plans to review applications for the Affordable Housing Advocate seat at its meeting on June 12th. Eligible applicants may be invited to the Board’s meeting on August 14th.
Housing Advisory Board Membership
The Housing Advisory Board is made up of nine (9) members appointed by Town Council. Three (3) members are Homeowners or Tenants. One (1) member is a Non-Market Rate Housing Resident. One (1) member is an Affordable Housing Advocate. One (1) member is a Non-Profit Housing Provider/Professional. One (1) member is a For-Profit Developer. One (1) member is a Real Estate Broker. One (1) member is a Housing, Planning or Public Policy Expert.
