Introduction: An Application Review Committee will meet to review and evaluate applications submitted for 2020-2021 Community Development Block Grant funding. The Town Council will review the Committee's funding recommendation during a public forum on March 25, 2020.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program was created by the U.S. Congress in 1974 and is administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The primary objective of the program is to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income peoples. For more information about the CDBG program, please visit the Federal CDBG website.
Each spring, the Town Council allocates CDBG funding to organizations which operate programs or provide housing that benefits low- and moderate-income peoples. These allocation decisions are guided by the Consolidated Plan, which is a document that provides information concerning how to address certain important housing and community development needs of its low- and moderate- income residents during the next five years.
