    The Chapel Hill Community Center at 120 S. Estes Drive will close for annual maintenance Sept. 9-15. Restrooms and a drink machine are located outside the building.

    Southbound South Columbia Street Is Open

    The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) reopened South Columbia to southbound traffic this weekend. Transit routes will remain on posted detours until Aug. 19.

    Estes Park Apartments Bus Stop Closed

    Due to construction activity the Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) bus stop at Estes Park Apartments will be temporarily closed effective Thursday, Aug. 8.

    Lanes will be closed on northbound NC 86 and Estes Drive while NC Department of Transportation crews perform excavation to improve sight distance.

    Update on Culbreth Road Closure

    The Town of Chapel Hill’s Morgan Creek Trail Extension/Tunnel Project will not be completed by the beginning of the school year, as setbacks have occurred due to heavy rains and issues underground. However, Culbreth Road will be reopened by Aug. 26 when school is back in session with construction flagmen.

  • Fee Waivers Extended

    The Town of Chapel Hill has extended the period of time that it is waiving fees for pickup of flood related debris and for permits related to correcting flood damaged properties until Sept. 4.

    The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close Old Pittsboro Road in Chapel Hill next week as work progresses on the N.C 86/South Columbia Street Enhancement Project.

    Construction is underway on the Bicycle Apartments at 602 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Multiple lane closures as well as sidewalk closures will be necessary to allow for work on utilities, storm drain, and driveway construction.
