Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) is preparing for the winter weather conditions that are in the forecast through Thursday, Feb. 13. CHT services will follow their normal routes and schedules as long as the streets are safe for travel.
When snow and ice threaten public safety, the Town of Chapel Hill responds immediately.
Road conditions have deteriorated quickly and some street closures have occurred due to conditions. All routes are experiencing significant delays and detours are likely.
The snow storm current under way has caused traffic jams and gridlock all over town.
Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will end service on all local routes by 6 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 12) due to extreme winter weather conditions. The following routes will continue to operate until 8 p.m. (as conditions allow):
Tar Heel Express Shuttles will not operate for the North Carolina versus Duke Men’s Basketball Game.
A public information meeting will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 to discuss renewal efforts for the Ephesus Church/Fordham Boulevard area.

Interested in transportation plans for a balanced, sustainable Chapel Hill? Tonight’s council business meeting will feature a staff presentation on transportation elements of the Ephesus Church Road-Fordham Blvd Focus Area Plan.
The Chapel Hill Town Council met on Monday, Feb. 10, at Orange County Southern Human Services Center to consider topics including the Rogers Road Sewer Project and a property asset update.
