Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) announces the start of the Tar Heel Express season beginning Friday, Sept. 4.
To celebrate the beginning of express bus service from Pittsboro to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) campus, Chapel Hill Transit will be hosting an “Officials Ride” on Monday, Aug. 31, from the Lowe's Home Improvement Park and Ride lot at 121 Lowe's drive in Pittsboro.
Most municipal offices will be closed Monday, Sept .7, in observance of Labor Day.
On Saturday, Aug. 22, traffic will be prohibited from turning onto Raleigh Street from South Road. Due to one way traffic, CHT will detour the FG route (westbound trips only) along Country Club Road then right onto Raleigh Street to continue normal routing.
To celebrate the beginning of regular route bus service from Rogers Road to downtown Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill Transit will host an “Officials Ride” on Monday, Aug. 24.
Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will expand its express bus service to the Town of Pittsboro and Chatham County, beginning Monday, Aug. 24.
Beginning August 24, 2009, the HS Route will be modified to provide service to Rogers Road and Morris Grove Elementary School.
Beginning Tuesday, July 21, the bus stop located on West Franklin Street at University Square (near the intersection of Church Street) has been relocated west of the existing stop to accommodate additional parking spaces.

Town of Chapel Hill crews are completing a project to improve pedestrian safety by installing blue emergency call boxes in downtown Chapel Hill. The call box blue towers are designed to quickly connect distressed users, with the touch of a button, to police while automatically transmitting their location to the dispatcher.

Due to the closure of the upper and lower tiers of the Family Medical Center Parking lot (S11 lot), Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will be implementing route detours for the CM, N and RU beginning Monday, June 29. The detours will remain in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, July 6.

Mayor Kevin C. Foy accepted the first place City Livability Award on behalf of the Town of Chapel Hill during the 2009 Mayors' City Livability Awards Program. More than 200 cities from around the country were considered for the award.
