Short Range Transit Plan Overview
As part of the Strategic & Financial Sustainability Plan, Nelson\Nygaard has looked at a variety of methods for generating revenue and reducing expenses to improve Chapel Hill Transit’s overall financial outlook, including operational efficiencies, service contracting, bus size and alternative fuels, university partnership models, and revenue impacts of re-instituting fares.
The next phase to complete in the planning effort is to conduct a Short Range Transit Plan that will serve as Chapel Hill Transit’s roadmap for the next 10 years and position the agency for continued future success. The Short Range Transit Plan will look at funding opportunities, integration of BRT, and longer-term strategic issues such as light rail integration and ongoing regional coordination. Ultimately, the Short Range Transit Plan will provide an implementable approach to guide transit service in Chapel Hill and Carrboro for the next 10 years and beyond.
Following our most recent round of public input sessions related to our draft future scenarios, project staff continues to take feedback via email (email@example.com) and the Online Interactive Survey (see link below). Based on community feedback of the current draft scenarios, another scenario(s) will be developed and shared with the community, in the next few months, prior to any potential recommendations for adjustments to the existing system being considered. Continue to visit this webpage for additional project updates.
