The Cultural Arts Division organizes an annual Juried Exhibitions Series each year for Chapel Hill Town Hall and The Chapel Hill Public Library to showcase artwork by established and emerging artists. A number of indoor exhibitions are organized throughout the year featuring a wide range of artistic media, including both two- and small three-dimensional artwork. Featured artists usually exhibit their work for two months in solo or two-person group shows. Artists are selected by a committee comprising members of the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission and representatives from the Library and Town Hall. North Carolina artists are encouraged to apply but all artists are considered, regardless of residency. Artistic excellence and the display of a wide variety of media and styles are the primary selection criteria.
A call to artists is usually issued to our mailing list in late spring, and selected artists are then scheduled for exhibition between September of the current year through August of the next year. Current Cultural Arts calls to artists are listed on our Artists' Opportunities webpage.
