A 2010 Community Art Project: Facing Our Neighbors

Facing Our Neighbors

Through collaborative creative arts and mixed media featuring The Sacrificial Poets and photographer Hudson Vaughan, Facing Our Neighbors provided a unique opportunity for a wide range of neighbors—people who play, work, worship, and live in the Northside Community of Chapel Hill and Carrboro—to engage with each other in essential practices of telling, listening and retelling and to practice collaboration by working together to develop co-habitable images and visions of neighborhood that support a broad spectrum of difference.  An interactive exhibit and May Day celebration was held on Sunday, May 2, 2010 on the grounds of the historic St. Josephs C.M.E. church that featured photo portraits, listening stations, and spoken word performances.
