The 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) is the guide for major transportation investments in the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC-MPO) area. This area covers the entire Durham County and the urbanized portions of Orange and Chatham Counties, including Chapel Hill.
The DCHC MPO is responsible for producing this plan and coordinating input from local jurisdictions and citizens. On this page you will find links to information produced by the MPO and Town Staff regarding the 2045 MTP.
This plan is anticipated to be adopted in June 2017 by the MPO Policy Board.
Information regarding the previous 2040 MTP can be found here.
DCHC MPO and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) engage in a joint scenario planning process. This process was used for the 2040 MTP called Imagine 2040- The Triangle Scenario Planning Initiative.
Scenario planning allows municipalities to measure and evaluate the impacts of competing development scenarios and major investments in the regional transportation system. To view the full Imagine 2040 document click here.
