The 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) is the guide for major transportation investments in the Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC-MPO) area. This area covers the entire Durham County and the urbanized portions of Orange and Chatham Counties, including Chapel Hill.
The DCHC MPO is responsible for producing this plan and coordinating input from local jurisdictions and citizens. This plan is anticipated to be adopted in January 2018 by the MPO Policy Board.
Information on the previous 2040 MTP can be found here.
About the Plan
DCHC MPO and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) engage in a joint scenario planning process. The Metropolitan Transportation Plan is a federally mandated regional plan that recommends investments in the region’s transportation networks over the next 30 years. The investments may include the following:
• new transit investment,
• bicycle and pedestrian facilities and
• widening or construction of new roads
