Residents are persons living in, or owning property in Orange County or Chapel Hill city limits. Persons living outside of Chapel Hill and Orange County are non-residents.
Residents receive registration priority for the first two weeks of each new registration period (mid-January, mid-April and early September). Non-residents cannot register for programs until the two-week residency priority registration has passed. Non-residents may register by mail or in person beginning the third week of the new registration period. We reserve the right to require proof of residency.
The Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing equal access to programs and activities. Specialized activities (those exclusively for people who have disabilities) are available, as is a continuum of support and accommodations for inclusion in all programs. To request support or services, call Marian Kaslovsky, Therapeutic Recreation Specialist at 919-968-2813 (voice) or TYY at 919-968-2784. Requests should be made at least two weeks in advance.
Policy of Non-Discrimination
The Town of Chapel Hill does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission, access, treatment or employment in its programs or activities.
If you have registered for a program and there are not enough participants to hold the class, you will be notified of the cancellation by phone or email. We typically notify participants of a cancelled class 3 days prior to the first meeting.
Sometimes weather is a factor in programming. Please call our Program and Athletic Hotline for weather and other last-minute cancellations: 919-685-8277.
Our Refunds and Cancellations Policy is available for review online.
