More Parking available in Downtown Chapel Hill
Posted Date: 2/19/2010

The Town of Chapel Hill announces the completion of the West Rosemary Parking Lot at 104 W. Rosemary St., available for public parking beginning Monday, Feb. 22.

The West Rosemary Parking Lot (formerly Parking Lot 4) is located west of Old Town Hall. Formerly a leased-only parking lot, the renovated lot now will offer metered parking for 17 vehicles. The meters accept quarters and dimes, offering 15 minutes per quarter and 6 minutes per dime. There is a four-hour time limit.

The conversion to public parking is among a series of improvements passed by the Town Council to enhance the visitor experience of shopping and dining in downtown Chapel Hill, recognizing that parking contributes to the overall health of downtown.

Other notable improvements increased the number of public parking spaces at the Town’s parking lot at 141 W. Rosemary St. An additional 10 spaces were added here by converting leased spaces to public spaces. In order to accommodate the need for leased spaces, the Town has opened the West Franklin-Basnight Lot, which has 42 leased spaces for all-day parking.
