Dispose of Unwanted Medications Safely with Operation Medicine Cabinet
Posted Date: 11/3/2009

Protect the environment and your identity by disposing of expired and unused medications safely. Drop off unwanted prescriptions or over-the-counter medications at Operation Medicine Cabinet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the parking lot at University Mall, 201 S. Estes Drive.

Medicines that are disposed of improperly can pose a danger of accidental ingestion by people or pets, illegal use or identity theft from discarded containers with patient information. Medications that are poured down the sink or flushed down the toilet can contaminate water supplies and endanger aquatic life in streams, because wastewater facilities are not designed to remove pharmaceutical chemicals.
