On-Street Parking Goes High-Tech

Have you tried our new multi-meter pay stations? We are conducting a field test of two different parking payment systems. We will test on system in the 100 block of East Franklin Street and the other in the 300 block of West Franklin Street. Try them out, complete a survey, and you will be rewarded with a coupon for free parking!

Parking in Downtown Chapel Hill

Chapel Hill’s Parking Services Division has more than 850 parking spaces throughout the Central Business district.

From our 180 on-street parking spaces to the 309 space Rosemary Street Parking Facility and Public Plaza, our program provides convenient access to the town’s many restaurants, specialty shops, and the University of North Carolina campus.

For additional information on Parking Services programs, visit the Parking Services office located on Level 1 North, inside the Rosemary Street Parking Facility.

Off-Street Parking Locations

There are more than 475 off-street parking spaces within the Town of Chapel Hill downtown area. Most spaces are located in the central business district, including the following locations:

Use of Crosswalks and Refuge Islands
The Chapel Hill Police Department urges motorists and pedestrians to be extra cautious at new pedestrian refuge islands and crosswalks along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East Franklin Street.

Try our new pay stations!
The pay stations will make parking more convenient to downtown visitors because they accept credit cards as well as coins. Metered parking is free after 6 p.m. daily and all day Sunday.
