Biography
Gene Pease received a Master of Business Administration degree with honors in entrepreneur and venture management from the University of Southern California. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in architecture from the University of Cincinnati.
He is president, CEO and a board member of Capital Analytics Inc. The company has made breakthrough discoveries in linking the investments in human capital to business outcomes using predicative analytics. Capital’s clients include Microsoft, Chrysler, US Bank, Sun Microsystems, Con Agra and Southern California Edison.
The Town boards he served on prior to the Council include:
- Citizens Budget and Finance Committee, Chair, 2004 – 2005.
- Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation, President, 2006 – 2009.
- Chapel Hill Public Library Building Committee, Member, 2006 – 2007.
- Orange Water and Sewer Authority, Board Member, 2007 – 2009.
- Gimghoul Neighborhood Association, Board Member and President, 1998 to present.
- Planning Board, Member, 2004 – 2007.
- Horace Williams Citizens Committee, Vice-Chair, 2005 – 2006.
He is married to Pamela Pease, pop-up book artist and owner of Paintbox Press, and has two daughters, Tiffany, design director for the San Jose Mercury News, and Heather, sales director for the Boston Breakers.

Duties
The primary mission of the Mayor and Council, as the governing body of the Town is to adopt and provide for the execution of ordinances, rules and regulations as may be necessary or appropriate to protect health, life or property, or to promote the comfort, convenience, security, good order, better government, or the general welfare of the Town and its citizens.
The Mayor and eight Council Members constitute the governing body of the Town. In accordance with the Town’s Charter, the voters elect a Mayor every two years. Council Members are elected to four-year, staggered terms on an at-large basis. Town Council duties include:
- Amendment of previously adopted policies through changes in the Town Code of Ordinances and the Development Ordinance, and by revision of policies and documents.
- Appointment of advisory boards, commissions, task forces and committees.
- Appointment of the Town Manager and Town Attorney.
- Establishment of agreements with other governments.
