Program for a Community Celebration
The Town Observances Committee is committed to planning a very special community celebration.

Parking will be available at the Kron Building Parking Lot (across from Fosters Market) north of Town Hall and at Hargraves Center, 216 N. Roberson St.
 For those who need rides, a shuttle bus will circulate among the Kron Building Parking Lot, Town Hall and Hargraves Center. The bus will be available from 2 to 6:30 p.m.

MUSICAL PERFORMANCES
J.R. Manley Essence of God Youth Choir  
Housed at the First Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, this choir comprises young adults ages 13-18 and is under the direction of Mrs. Barbara Clark and Reverend Marie Man. They specialize in modern and contemporary gospel. The choir formed this year in keeping with the philosophy of age appropriate worship experiences for children.

The St. Joseph Male Chorus
This chorus has been in existence in Chapel Hill for more than 10 years. They perform in the community and up and down the East Coast. The choir is under the direction of Pastor Troy Harrison Sr.; Bruce Washington is the president.  The choir also sang for the opening of Black History Month in February 2005 at Town Hall.

SPECIAL PRESENTATION
Elizabeth Aklilu
Elizabeth is a sixth grade student at Culbreth Middle School, and has been writing poetry since she was “really really little.”  She was recently the local winner of the “A Different Kind of Hero” national poetry contest. She went on to place second in the state with the same work.  Elizabeth also plays basketball and loves hip-hop music.

The procession will lead from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Columbia to Rosemary to Roberson.

MUSICAL PERFORMANCES
United Voices of Praise
This featured choir has been a living expression of interracial harmony for almost 10 years, during which time they have performed many places, including traveling to Europe on four tours. United Voices of Praise is a community choir mainly made up of members of Fisher Memorial United Holy Church in Durham and United Church of Chapel Hill.  The choir is under the direction of Charles Bradshaw.

Liquid Pleasure
A premiere show and dance band in its 29th year, Liquid Pleasure
performs all across the United States from San Francisco to Vegas and New York plus everywhere in between. Three out of the six present musicians who make up Liquid Pleasure are original members and grew up together in the shadow of the campus of UNC Chapel Hill. Over the years, the band has appeared with such notable artists as Paula Abdul, The Temptations, Whitney Houston, The Four Tops, Stacy LL Cool J, Aretha Franklin and Jeffery Osborne.
