A development agreement is a unique development tool for large projects, and two development agreements are currently being pursued in Chapel Hill:

- The Amity Station project at Amity Court and West Rosemary Street
Awards for Chapel Hill Fire Department
The Chapel Hill Fire Department (CHFD) and the Chapel Hill Firefighters Association (CHFFA) recently received two separate awards.
The CHFD received recognition from the N.C. Office of the State Fire Marshal the famous puppet show “Johnnie Joins the Fire Department.” The CHFD has made major strides by presenting to audiences during the N.C. State Fair as well as collaborating with the Kidzu museum to reach additional audiences. A talented crew of firefighters and volunteers present the puppet show. During our six-year tenure, thousands of children and adults have been educated and entertained by this fun, musical story.
The CHFFA received recognition from the N.C. Jaycee Burn Center for continued community support. Members of the CHFFA make it a priority to assist with the Burn Center’s annual Survivor Reunion. The Burn Survivor Reunion is gathering designed for the whole family to bring inspiration and hope through formal presentations and informal times of sharing. Activities allow people to network with other survivors and their families and discover available resources. The CHFFA is also supportive anytime there is notification that a firefighter or a member of their family is being treated at the Burn Center. Support includes around-the-clock visitation, “healing baskets,” or assisting with other needs as requested.
