The Chapel Hill Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Chapel Hill Town Hall, 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., to consider a resolution to appoint a new town manager.

Public attendance is welcome. Parking is available at Town Hall lots and the lot at Stephens Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Additional parking is available in several public lots on Rosemary Street (parkonthehill.com). Town Hall is served by NS and T routes of Chapel Hill Transit (chtransit.org).

Appointment of New Town Manager

The Chapel Hill Town Council will consider a resolution to appoint a new town manager.

The Council conducted an extensive nationwide search for the position, gathering initial public input at listening sessions, and via social media and surveys. Chapel Hill residents were also selected for participation in an assessment center that engaged candidates in simulated scenarios. Chapel Hill has a council-manager form of government. The nine Town Council members, including the mayor, are elected. The Town Council appoints the town manager. Each has a different set of responsibilities. The Town Council sets policies; the town manager and his/her staff carry them out. As a professional administrator, the town manager coordinates all day-to-day operations and administration of about 700 employees and an annual budget of about $100 million.
