Chapel Hill Transit Operator & Maintenance Appreciation Week
Have you thanked your operator lately? As part of the national ‘Transit Driver Appreciation Day” (#tdad ) on March 18, Chapel Hill Transit will celebrate its Operators and Maintenance staff the week of March 12-16.
Chapel Hill Transit operators and maintenance staff are on duty as early as 4 a.m. and as late as 3 a.m., serving around 27,000 customers daily, 7 million a year, 180, 000 revenue hours a year and traveling miles every day.
Operators drive for hours, manage time schedules, serve as customer service ambassadors while safely operating big vehicles through tight spaces, heavy traffic in all types of weather conditions. They don’t have an easy job, but they make it look easy!
Of course, buses could not roll without our wonderful maintenance team members working behind the scenes keeping the vehicles clean, operational and safe.
Join us in celebrating our hard-working operators. That could be as simple as a smile and a wave as you’re boarding and a “thank you” when you leave. You can also submit an official note of appreciation for a job well done, so your operators can be formally recognized for their efforts to email@example.com or snap a selfie with your favorite operator (of course, while the bus is not moving) and tweet to @chtransit.
