Chapel Hill, NC: The Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department will release their program brochure for Winter-Spring Programs on Friday, Dec. 8. Patrons may browse recreation programs and activities that range from Youth and Adult Sports, to added Summer and Spring Break Camp Programs, as well as Outdoor Adventure programs - one of our newest offerings.

New to this year’s line-up are Outdoor Adventure programs, with kayaking trips planned for youth 10 and older and their parents to Paddle the Eno River, Jordan Lake and Neuse River. Join us as we learn about the fundamentals of kayaking and canoeing including safety, equipment, paddling technique, and trip planning.

A new fitness course has been installed along the greenway in Southern Community Park, thanks to a collaboration among the Town and Southern Village. The outdoor fitness course on the Fan Branch Trail is currently open for public use. Each piece of equipment is designed to be unique from the other, and is highlighted by its placement in the natural setting of the greenway. The equipment can be used in a variety of ways by adults and children of all ages.

In addition to our Summer Day Camps, a host of new summer and spring break camps have been added, including Outdoor Adventure, Social Café, Play-Well TEKnology, Ceramic Arts, Jumpstart Sports theme camps such as Lacrosse, Cheerleading, Olympics, Ultimate Frisbee and much more. Some inclusion support is available for campers with disabilities. Ages 5-16 depending on the camp, Dates June 11-Aug. 17, Price Varies for each camp.

Public parks and recreation are the gateways to a healthier, more livable community. At Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation, we continue to expand our efforts in making a positive change in the health and wellness in Chapel Hill and Orange County.
