SNOWPLOWWinter Storm Inga Update

Chapel Hill is cleaning up after Winter Storm Inga dumped nearly a foot of snow on the town. High-traffic roads have been cleared, but icy spots remain.

Town facilities are open Friday. Chapel Hill Transit service is operating on a modified schedule. 

Residential solid waste collection will resume normal schedules next week. Commercial solid waste collection will be made up Saturday. Yard waste collection, including leaf collection, is canceled this week. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday curbside recycling routes—collected by Orange County Solid Waste—will be collected Friday and Saturday.

Construction Affecting Traffic: Rosemary Street and Cameron Avenue

Rosemary Street
Le Chase Construction will reduce West Rosemary Street to one lane in front of the AC Hotel project site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning Monday, Oct. 9, and concluding Thursday, Oct. 12.

The contractor will remove old sewer lines as the new hotel nears completion.

Two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers throughout the lane closures. People traveling through the area should expect delays if they can’t seek an alternate route.

Cameron Avenue
Samax Construction will reduce Cameron Avenue to one lane at its intersection with Wilson Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, through Friday, Oct. 13, and Monday, Oct. 16.

The contractor will install a man hole and connect sewer service.

Two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers throughout the lane closures. People traveling through the area should expect delays if they can’t seek an alternate route.
