WINTER WEATHER ALERT. Town facilities are open Friday. Chapel Hill Community Center and Aquatic Center open at 9 am, Community Center Pool temporarily closed due to water temp issue. SNOWPLOWWinter Storm Inga Update

Chapel Hill is cleaning up after Winter Storm Inga dumped nearly a foot of snow on the town. High-traffic roads have been cleared, but icy spots remain.

Town facilities are open Friday. Chapel Hill Public Library, Chapel Hill Community Center and Aquatic Center will open at 9 a.m. The Community Center pool is temporarily closed due to a water temperature issue. 

Chapel Hill Transit service will begin at 10 a.m. Some routes will be modified or not served due to road conditions.  

Storm response call center at 919-969-5005 will be available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.

Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Public Meetings

GoTriangle is holding two drop-in meetings in Durham and Chapel Hill to check in and inform the public of project updates for the Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Project. 

  • The Durham meeting will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Hayti Heritage Center, 804 Old Fayetteville St., Durham, NC 27701.
  • The Chapel Hill meeting with be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28,  at Extraordinary Ventures, 200 S. Elliott Road, Chapel Hill, NC  27514.

The Durham-Orange Light Rail Transit Project is a 17.7-mile project that will provide over 26,000 trips per day to residents and commuters taking advantage of employment, healthcare and educational opportunities in Durham and Chapel Hill. The rail project will connect three of the top 10 employers in the state (Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC Health Care).
