Housing Partners with UNC School of Social Work

UNC-Chapel Hill graduate student Alex Lombardi had an aha moment shortly after she began working as an intern for the Housing Department.

Public housing neighborhoods in Chapel Hill are surrounded by student housing. But the communities and residents don’t really mix.

Town of Chapel Hill Prepares for Tropical Weather

Post Date:09/08/2017 11:06 AM
The Town of Chapel continues to monitor the forecast and prepare for the tropical storm systems in the Atlantic Ocean, especially Hurricane Irma.
Public Works crews have been out surveying known problem areas as well as preparing and staging equipment. Now is the best time to clear stormwater drains near you. If you see a stormwater drain in an area that needs attention by Town crews, call 919-969-RAIN(7246).
Orange County Emergency Management is responsible for setting up and managing shelters. Should we need to establish shelters, the County will open them at pre-identified locations. Notifications will be sent through Town and County channels as well as local media outlets. If you're not signed up for OC Alerts--a fully-customizable emergency alert service--you can do so or check your preferences at https://member.everbridge.net/index/453003085611768#/login.
We also encourage you to tell family and friends now about the American Red Cross Safe and Well List website, so they will know how to get your "safe and well" message in an emergency. In the event of an emergency, you can register on the redcross.org/safeandwell website.
