Winter Storm Inga Update
Chapel Hill is cleaning up after Winter Storm Inga dumped nearly a foot of snow on the town. High-traffic roads have been cleared, but icy spots remain.
Town facilities are open Friday. Chapel Hill Public Library, Chapel Hill Community Center and Aquatic Center will open at 9 a.m. The Community Center pool is temporarily closed due to a water temperature issue.
Chapel Hill Transit service will begin at 10 a.m. Some routes will be modified or not served due to road conditions.
Storm response call center at 919-969-5005 will be available 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
Chapel Hill Transit RU Route Detour Starts at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 22
Chapel Hill Transit will operate regular services on all routes on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, and customers should expect delays due to pedestrian traffic around the downtown Franklin Street area due to a possible rally on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill. The RU route will be detoured beginning at 5:30 p.m. due to the closing of East Cameron Avenue from Raleigh Street to South Columbia Street. The RU route will be detoured along South Road and South Columbia Street to resume normal routing on West Cameron Avenue.
Chapel Hill Transit will make every attempt to maintain schedules and is advising customers to expect delays and to allow extra travel time.
