The Town of Chapel Hill’s annual Arbor Day celebration will be held at 11:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Chapel Hill Town Hall, 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in the parking lot on the corner of Columbia and Stevens streets.

Suzie Roth’s third grade class from Northside Elementary School will participate and do a presentation of The Giving Tree.

Chapel Hill Police Seek Information in Hit-and-Run

The Chapel Hill Police Department needs your help with information about a hit-and-run that took place early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to the report of a person lying in the road near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Weaver Dairy Road at 4:51 a.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, the person informed officers she had been struck by a dark sedan while she was crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to UNC Hospital for treatment.

If anyone has information about this crime, please call either the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.  Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest. It’s important to be seen when walking near roads, especially when it’s dark. Wearing bright clothing and reflective items will help people who drive identify you. It’s also important to cross roads at designated locations and wait for appropriate crossing signals.
