Winter Storm Inga Update
Chapel Hill is cleaning up after Winter Storm Inga dumped nearly a foot of snow on the town. High-traffic roads have been cleared, but icy spots remain.
Town facilities are open Friday. Chapel Hill Transit service is operating on a modified schedule.
Residential solid waste collection will resume normal schedules next week. Commercial solid waste collection will be made up Saturday. Yard waste collection, including leaf collection, is canceled this week. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday curbside recycling routes—collected by Orange County Solid Waste—will be collected Friday and Saturday.
Registration for Fall Recreation Programs begins August 7

Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation has released a Fall Program Guide, available online at www.chapelhillparks.org. Patrons may browse recreation programs and register online for a range of activities from Music and Arts Classes for youth,Youth and Adult Basketball Leagues to Outdoor Adventure, one of our newest offerings.
New to this year’s line-up are a Sunset Paddle on Jordan Lake, an outdoor adventure program that teaches the fundamentals of kayaking and canoeing including safety, equipment, paddling technique, and trip planning.
RESIDENTS (persons living in or owning property in Orange County or Chapel Hill town limits) may register beginning 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 7; NON-RESIDENTS may register beginning 8:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14.
After a successful launch of the first Rodeo on Rosemary in March 2017, Rodeo on Rosemary returns for a 2.0 version. A partnership between Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department, Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership and the Raleigh-Durham Mobile Food Association, Rodeo on Rosemary will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5.

To sign up, patrons will have to create an online WebTrac account at www.chapelhillparks.org to register for classes or rent a picnic shelter. Patrons can also register in person at one of three recreation centers, Chapel Hill Community Center, Hargraves Community Center, the Homestead Aquatic Center, or drop in at our administrative offices at 200 Plant Road.
