2017 UNC Science Expo Saturday
The 2017 UNC Science Expo will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 22, on Cameron Avenue on the UNC Campus. The Expo is a free, family-friendly event offering more than 100 fascinating exhibits with hands-on experiments, riveting demonstrations, laboratory tours, stage entertainment and much more! This NC Science Festival signature event showcasing the wonders of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) is a partnership between Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, the University of North Carolina and the Town of Chapel Hill – a true “town-gown” experience.
On the stage you’ll find acts like Strata Solar, the Bouncing Bulldogs, and Duane Deardorff. Also to help with this year’s theme “Arts and Design,” you can enjoy shows involving science demos, Molecular Balloonology, and Acrobatic Biology. Let’s not forget DSI will be on hand to keep the crowd entertained.
While walking around be sure to check out booths like Kidzu Children’s Museum, Piedmont Wildlife Center, Hope Gardens, face painting and spin art plus many more. Also be on the lookout for original fractal art pieces for sale by Justin Heinecke and butterfly boxes from Faith Beery.
There will be food trucks on site for lunch, snacks and drinks. Don’t forget to bring your own water bottle to enjoy some fresh, clean water from the Blue Green Machine water purifying system. Stop by the Expo Information booth on Cameron Ave for an event map and other pertinent information.
