Parks and Recreation Night at the Bosh
No. 7-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels host in-state rival No.-16 East Carolina Pirates
Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation, in a collaborative promotion with Carolina Baseball, announces Parks and Recreation Night at UNC’s Boshamer Stadium as the No. 7-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels host in-state rival No. 16 East Carolina Pirates at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 4.
John Brunner, recreation manager for Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation says, “We’d like to invite you and your family to attend the game, along with our youth athletic team participants and their families, to celebrate Parks and Recreation Night and enjoy a great environment, some good fellowship and great baseball.”
Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation baseball and softball teams will be recognized on the field during the national anthem. O.D. Sanders of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation will sing the national anthem and Melvin Jackson, a 40-year recreation baseball coach, will toss out the first pitch.
“We plan to have another Parks and Recreation promotional game on Saturday, May 20 as UNC hosts Duke for the last home game of the season," says Brunner. The Parks & Recreation’s Cultural Arts Division will host the first “Movies Under the Stars” night, featuring “Field of Dreams" on one of the NCAA’s largest baseball stadium video boards, at Boshamer Stadium after the game at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The UNC baseball program boasts one of the finest facilities in all of collegiate baseball after the completion of the state-of-the-art Boshamer Stadium in 2009. The completely new facility, built within the same footprint as the old Boshamer Stadium, brings incredible upgrades to the program, and the changes allow Tar Heel student-athletes to compete at the highest level in an atmosphere unlike any other venue in collegiate baseball.
The Town of Chapel Hill is nationally regarded for its quality of life. Public parks and recreation are the gateways to a healthier, more livable community. In addition to our parks, trails, indoor and outdoor recreation facilities, Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation offers a myriad of recreation programs and cultural activities for all ages and social backgrounds.
