SNOWPLOWWinter Storm Inga Update

Chapel Hill is cleaning up after Winter Storm Inga dumped more than 6 inches of snow on the town. Public Works crews are focusing on clearing Town-maintained streets, bridges, overpasses and trouble spots. The NC Department of Transportation is focusing on the five major roads through Chapel Hill (Franklin Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard/Columbia Street, Fordham Boulevard, Manning Drive, and South Road/NC Highway 54).

Meeting cancelations: Wednesday's Chapel Hill Town Council regular business meeting is canceled. Wednesday's Chapel Hill Cultural Arts Commission meeting is canceled. The Meet the Author Tea scheduled for Thursday has been canceled and may be rescheduled for a later date.

Town facilities will be closed on Thursday. This includes Parks and Recreation facilities (including the Aquatics Center on Homestead Road), the Chapel Hill Public Library and other public-facing facilities.

Memorial Day Holiday

Most municipal offices will be closed Monday, May 29, in observance of Memorial Day.

RESIDENTIAL REFUSE COLLECTION: No residential trash collection on Monday. Monday routes will be collected Wednesday, May 31.

CURBSIDE RECYCLING: No change in schedule.

COMMERCIAL REFUSE will not be collected on Monday. Monday's trash will be collected by the end of the week.

ORANGE COUNTY LANDFILL will be closed.

SOLID WASTE CONVENIENCE CENTERS will be closed.

CHAPEL HILL TRANSIT will not operate.

HOUSING: Office and Maintenance Division will be closed. For emergency maintenance services, call 919-968-2855.

CHAPEL HILL PUBLIC LIBRARY will be open from 1 to 5 p.m.

PARKING SERVICES: The Parking office will be closed. On-street metered parking and municipal lots will be free.

PARKS AND RECREATION: The Plant Road office, Hargraves Center and The Corner Teen Center will be closed. Chapel Hill Community Center and Homestead Aquatics Center will be open regular hours. Northside Gym with be open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. A.D. Clark Pool will be open noon-7 p.m. Saturday, May 27; noon-7 p.m. Sunday, May 28; and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday, May 29.
