LOOSE LEAF COLLECTION

The last loose leaf collection for this season has been completed by Town of Chapel Hill public works crews. If you still have leaves to be collected, place them in yard waste carts or other rigid containers for curbside collection. Yard waste roll carts may be purchased from the Public Works Department (919-969-5100). Crews can collect yard waste and leaves in paper yard waste bags. Please note that yard waste crews cannot collect yard waste in plastic bags.

Loose leaf collection will begin again in mid-October.

An alternative to disposal of leaves and yard waste through the Town collection program is backyard composting. Information on home composting is available at https://composting.ces.ncsu.edu, http://www.orangecountync.gov/departments/solid_waste_management/mulch_and_compost.php or http://carolinacompost.com, or call the N.C. Botanical Garden (919-962-0522), Orange County Agriculture Extension Agents (919-245-2050) or Orange Community Recycling (919-968-2788).

For more information on leaf collection and other Public Works services, call 919-969-5100.
